Across 5 albums, André Manoukian has drawn inspiration from Armenian music as an inexhaustible source, its colours blending perfectly with modal jazz. His piano becomes his intimate memory, his cultural heritage, a language of tenderness. Between East and West, his compositions are supported by the spectacular phrasing of Mosin Kawa's Indian tablas, Gilles Coquard's powerful double bass, Anissa Nehar's cajon, and the sumptuous violins of the Orchestre Appassionato conducted by Mathieu Herzog, arranged by Manoukian himself and Simon Cochard. A boundless horizon, Levantine arabesques like so many initiatory paths, labyrinths that seem to embrace the folds and intricacies of our memories. Finally, the voice of Arpi Alto, an Armenian diva, delivers two poignant lullabies.
