Overview
Produced by the International Organization for Migration (IOM), with the support of the City of Paris, part of the exhibition "Témoins des réalités climatiques : la migration comme adaptation" will be presented at the Bibliothèque Arthur Rimbaud from 29 September to 31 October.
Through a selection of photographs from its collection, the IOM offers a set of perspectives from different regions of the world. These images document the challenges faced by populations in the face of environmental upheavals and highlight migration as an adaptation strategy.
From droughts to floods in East Africa, to hurricanes in the Caribbean, the shots bear witness to territories exposed to extreme climatic shocks.
They also report on more gradual phenomena, such as coastal erosion in Bangladesh or particularly harsh winters in Mongolia, which durably weaken living conditions and livelihoods.
By showing daily life marked by precariousness, food insecurity and environmental degradation, these photographs also testify to the capacity of communities to adapt in the face of these upheavals.
Join us from 29 September to 31 October at the Bibliothèque Arthur Rimbaud to discover this exhibition. Free admission during library opening hours. All audiences.
