Giacinto Scelsi did not write music; he received it. A sonic explorer of the invisible, he left behind an unclassifiable, vibrant, spiritual body of work.

The day offers an immersion into his universe through the screening of the documentary film Le premier mouvement de l'immobile by Sebastiano D'Ayala Valva, followed by a meeting with the director and musicians who knew and studied with him: Carol Robinson and Nino Mollica.

The meeting will conclude with a workshop with conservatory students and a unique concert where elements will become vibration, breath, and silence.

Directed by Sebastiano d’Ayala Valva, the composer's great-cousin, with the participation of Arte and Radio France, this film explores the mysteries of sound, its vibration, and Scelsi's musical creation.

Starting from a troubling childhood memory, the director conducts an intimate investigation into this major 20th-century figure, tracing his journey between Rome, Paris, Sardinia, and even Guatemala.

Refusing celebrity and cultivating mystery, Scelsi himself claimed "not to exist" - a fascinating paradox at the heart of this portrait. The screening will be followed by an intervention from the director, who will share the artistic and personal stakes of his work. Duration 1h30.

3:30 PM: Conference on Scelsi: The Man and His Work Composer and clarinetist Carol Robinson and saxophonist Nino Mollica offer a conference dedicated to the work of Giacinto Scelsi.

Recognized interpreters of the composer's repertoire, they will highlight the biographical, aesthetic, and cultural dimensions of this extraordinary music.

Through commentary and sound examples, they will invite the public to enter a universe where sound becomes living matter, explored in all its depth.
