Adapted from Marguerite Duras' autobiographical account, La Douleur, the play depicts the extreme waiting of a woman confronted with the absence of her husband, Robert Antelme, deported during the Second World War. In a world in ruins, between a liberated Paris and the uncertain returns from the camps, Marguerite Duras faces the hope of his return, which becomes obsessive, almost physical, and tries to survive the possibility of his disappearance. Through fragmented writing, between an intimate diary and a mental narrative, the play explores the boundary between memory and hallucination, love and survival, silence and the necessity to speak. This waiting becomes a space of inner decomposition as much as a point of resistance. The show offers an immersion into a rare, tense voice, where writing asserts itself as a vital act in the face of erasure, and where the intimate confronts History in its rawest form.
