Le Choix des Ames - Une Fable Humaniste

The 'âme' (soul) is a small wooden piece that transmits vibrations within an instrument. Without it, the cello would have a dull and empty sound.

1916, Verdun. In a shell hole, two men who are polar opposites: Raoul, a vengeful and somewhat simple French soldier, and Franz, a German soldier, musician, and humanist. With them, a cello. To escape this dark and sordid world, the two enemies need each other. The music and the instrument's 'âme' will bring them back to their humanity. They will have to forget their fears, overcome their hatred, and trust each other despite their differences. But what future awaits those who make Le Choix des Âmes?

Through this humanist fable, more relevant than ever, two men choose the cello over the bayonet, life over barbarity, the choice to resonate and reason.
