Léon Phal - Bodies & Ideas

A leading figure on the new European jazz scene, Léon Phal develops a project at the crossroads of jazz, groove, and electronic music.

With Bodies & Ideas, his fourth album, he continues the momentum initiated with Stress Killer, which was widely acclaimed upon its release and performed at over a hundred concerts in France and internationally.

The project has notably played in Paris with sold-out concerts at La Maroquinerie and New Morning, as well as at MaMA Festival, opening for Vulfpeck at Jazz à Vienne, at Winter Jazzfest New York, at Ronnie Scott's in London, and at the Festival International de Jazz de Montréal.

On stage, the band, composed of Gauthier Toux (keyboards), Zacharie Ksyk (trumpet), Rémi Bouyssière (bass), and Arthur Alard (drums), plays tightly, with true collective intensity. The sound is warm, organic, the groove constant, and the concert quickly captivates.

It's a live performance that is both engaging and danceable, recognised for its effectiveness by both the public and professionals.

With Bodies & Ideas, the project also opens up to other colours on record, notably through collaborations with Italian singer Fabiana Martone (Nu Genea) and rapper Jungle Jack.

The live show progresses like a journey, between tension and release, until it finds a form of balance, like a passage from shadow to light, in the image of the Divine Comedy. Music for body and mind, designed to be played, shared, and experienced.
