Lounis Aït Menguellet is one of the major figures in Kabyle song and poetry. Born on 17 January 1950 in Ighil Bouammas, Kabylie, he began his artistic career at the age of 17 and quickly established himself as an essential voice of Amazigh culture.

Author, composer, and performer, over nearly six decades he has built a monumental body of work, carried by the richness of his lyrics, the depth of his reflection, and his attachment to universal human values.
