Video Games & Music The music where you are the hero

From 2 April to 1 November 2026

For the first time, an exhibition traces the fascinating history of the links between music and video games, from the 8-bit era to symphony orchestras. In half a century, video game music has established itself as a global phenomenon. Embedded in the life paths of several generations, it accompanies both intimate narratives and collective adventures. Long limited to a few functional beeps, video game music – or VGM for “Video Game Music” – has grown with technology, to become a rich, demanding and inventive creative field. It calls upon the symphony orchestra as much as the most experimental electronics, explores all musical genres and embodies a singular form: that of music that is not content to be listened to but is played, experienced, lived. The player becomes the trigger, actor, musician. Inspired by the structure of video games, the exhibition unfolds like an open world, inviting each visitor to choose their progression through a dynamic landscape blending sound, music and game. The space is organised into several themes, each offering interactive modules and stations. Around twenty playable games are deployed throughout a journey enriched with artworks, consoles, instruments, photographs and audiovisual content. Welcome to the exhibition where you are the hero.
