The Australian band will present their modern and cinematic folk at [b]BabourSauvage on 21 October 2026.[/b] Hailing from Adelaide, Any Young Mechanic composes music at the crossroads of folk, orchestral pop, and indie rock. Driven by lyrics populated with singular characters, intimate narratives, and imaginary landscapes, the quintet transforms each track into a true cinematic scene. Violin, banjo, double bass, guitars, and keyboards intertwine to create a universe as rich as it is moving. Formed within Adelaide's independent music scene, the band brings together five musicians from classical and contemporary backgrounds. Inspired as much by Bob Dylan and BigThiefas by the new British scene represented by Black Midi and Black Country, New Road, they seek to reinvent folk by bringing it a resolutely current energy and sensibility. Their first album, [i]The Modern Shoe IsRuiningThe Foot[/i], was recorded collectively in just three days, without overdubs or edits. This raw and organic approach gives the twelve tracks a rare immediacy, as if the band were playing directly in the room with the listener. Between delicate melodies, instrumental flights, and captivating narratives, Any Young Mechanic offers 21st-century folk that is vibrant, ambitious, and profoundly human.
