Ezhel

Ezhel, real name Sercan Ýpekçioðlu, born on 1st July 1990 in Ankara, Turkey, and now residing in Berlin, is one of the most influential figures in the Turkish and German rap scenes.

Growing up in the bustling yet challenging streets of Ankara, Ezhel was exposed from a young age to a wide variety of musical influences, including reggae, hip-hop, and Anatolian rock.

His passion for music emerged in his teenage years when he began experimenting with freestyle and performing in underground rap battles. His first album, « Müptezhel  », released in 2017, marked a real turning point in his career and quickly became a cultural phenomenon in Turkey.

The album, which blends rap, reggae, and trap elements, was praised for the sincerity of its lyrics, addressing themes such as urban life, social issues, and the difficulties faced by youth.

Tracks like « Þehrimin Tadý  » and « Geceler  » deeply resonated with a generation confronting economic and social challenges, establishing Ezhel as the voice of Turkish youth.

Despite legal difficulties, including arrests for allegedly glorifying drugs in his lyrics, Ezhel's popularity has only grown.

He has become a symbol of resistance and freedom of expression in Turkey, using his notoriety to highlight the reality experienced by many young people in the country.

His music, recognised for its authenticity and emotional depth, has earned him a loyal following not only in Turkey but also internationally.

Ezhel's collaborations with international artists such as Aitch, Luciano, Gentleman, and Ufo361 have expanded his renown, making him a leading figure on the global hip-hop scene.

Today, Ezhel continues to push the boundaries of rap, using his music as a powerful tool for storytelling and social commentary, thus confirming his place as a pioneering artist.
