Francois Dumont

Under the inspired fingers of François Dumont, Beethoven's piano finds its full scope and surge of freedom. While the early sonatas of the Master of Bonn showcase dazzling virtuosity, Beethoven later strives to express the facets of the human soul. With its contrasts and passionate spirit, the “Pathétique” Sonata gives way to inner drama. While he sporadically yields to the temptation of power, as in Sonata No. 11, the composer readily delves into introspection: the “Moonlight” Sonata casts a veil of mystery and melancholy over his work. Reconciling inner tension and exalted lyricism, François Dumont deploys an expressive palette worthy of the masterpieces performed.
