Hovvdy

The indie duo Hovvdy is back in Paris on 27 August for an intimate show at PopUp! Hovvdy, a duo formed in Austin, Texas, consists of multi-instrumentalists Charlie Martin and Will Taylor, whose budding friendship during jamming sessions led to the creation of a distinctive sound.

The duo entered the music arena in 2014, garnering increasing attention with their debut album "Taster" in 2016, followed by "Cranberry" in 2018, two works brimming with lo-fi atmosphere and introspective melodies.

Each subsequent release has established itself as a natural extension of the previous one, progressively enriching their universe with new textures and emotions.

True to this constant evolution, the duo is now preparing to open a new chapter with the release of their next album, scheduled for 14 August. Characterised by introspective lyrical writing and melancholic melodies, Hovvdy's sound is often described as "slowcore".

Their music, while rooted in indie rock, flirts with elements of folk and pop, creating a soft and dreamy atmosphere.

The duo's artistic identity is based on emotional honesty and a simplicity that conveys an underlying complexity, leaving an indelible mark on the contemporary musical landscape. Opening act: Esme Emerson
