Jeanine De Bique, the Trinidadian soprano acclaimed at the Opéra de Paris for her major baroque roles – from Alcina to Susanna – embarks on a programme as audacious as it is original: creating a dialogue between the great opera arias of Handel and Rameau and traditional Caribbean music, including wedding songs, dance tunes, and island percussion. A round trip between two sides of the Atlantic, between baroque Europe and the 18th-century Caribbean, revealing the unsuspected connections between these two worlds. Alongside her, Apollo's Fire – one of America's most renowned baroque ensembles, founded by harpsichordist Jeannette Sorrell – makes its debut at La Seine Musicale. Awarded by the international press (BBC Music Magazine, Gramophone), the ensemble is celebrated for its programmes designed as vibrant and theatrical musical narratives. A rare evening, at the crossroads of cultures and continents.
