Jolies Jambes is the story of a little girl learning how to become a woman. Through her eyes, she recounts what she has understood about the world and what the world has imposed on her. A funny, sometimes confrontational, often moving one-woman show. Jolies Jambes is the story of a little girl learning how to become a woman. I tell of discovering my gender, the incomprehension linked to it, the gaze of men on my body, their voices. I tell of intergenerational traumas, of violence. I speak of my mother, my grandmother, my father. Jolies Jambes is my story, but it is not only my story, it is also the story of all women. It is the account of a struggle, the oldest struggle in the world. This one-woman show explores the construction of identity, the injunctions, the violence and the traumas passed down from generation to generation.
