This one-man show recounts the extraordinary life of the writer, reporter, and academician Joseph Kessel. Exalted by life, by the beauty of the world, he traversed the 20th century, of which he was an indefatigable observer. He witnessed both World Wars up close, saw Ireland liberated from English rule, clinked glasses with Russian soldiers in Siberia during the 1917 revolution, observed the rise and fall of Nazism, the birth of Israel, tracked slave traders in the Horn of Africa, drank with Edith Piaf, with Humphrey Bogart, explored countries as remote as Afghanistan was in the middle of the century, discovered and imported Alcoholics Anonymous to France… The show seeks to convey the vital breath of this extraordinary man, the whirlwind that was his life.
