La Seconde Surprise is the second independent part of two comedies in which Marivaux illustrates the explosive cohabitation between susceptibility and love.

This is an opportunity for us to rediscover Ronan Rivière and the collective La Voix des Plumes, in a pastoral setting and costumes straight out of a Watteau painting.

Poulenc's music, performed by Olivier Mazal on piano, underscores the play's romantic plot, so well-crafted that it becomes both comical and despairing.

For this is the game and the lesson of this Seconde surprise: a tragicomic muddle where everyone suffers but where love triumphs.
