The China National Opera and Dance Drama Theater performs for the first time in France with its emblematic work, La Terre Sauvage.

Created in 1987 based on the famous play by Cao Yu, a major figure in modern Chinese literature, this opera became a classic in China before conquering American and European stages in the 1990s. Nearly thirty years after its last European tour, La Terre Sauvage returns to Europe in a new production specially designed for this exceptional tour. This lyrical tragedy, performed in Mandarin with French surtitles, tells a universal story of passion, revenge, and redemption in early 20th-century China. Through the power of its musical writing and dramatic intensity, it has established itself as one of the major works of modern Chinese opera. Presented by China Arts and Entertainment Group (CAEG) in collaboration with Le Monstre Orchestra, this event offers the French public a rare opportunity to discover on stage one of China's most prestigious cultural institutions. Only two performances at Salle Pleyel, on 5 and 6 September 2026.
