A comedy first performed in Paris at the Palais Royal theatre on August 6, 1666, by the Troupe du Roi, Molière here signs the most famous of his farces. Sganarelle is a drunken and mischievous woodcutter whom his wife Martine passes off as a mad doctor who only acknowledges himself as a doctor after being beaten. This leads to a frantic series of misunderstandings and irresistible situational comedies. Transposed to Russia with embroidered red tunics, chapkas, and balalaikas strummed with passion and languor, we find here all the ingredients that have made the company's shows a success: live music (accordion, guitars, singing, harmonica, cajon, and balalaikas) and a generous and dynamic troupe!
