Maison Noire # Lecture parlée chantée

A show by Cirque du Dr Paradi performed by Pascaline Herveet

It is within the framework of Saint Lazare prison, a place both spectacular and steeped in history, that Pascaline Herveet constructs this new closed-door piece. Until 1927, those then referred to as the “infamies of the Capital” were imprisoned there. What passionate exchanges could these anarchist women, cabaret dancers, prostitutes or thieves have had? While some sold their bodies or collaborated with the barons of capitalism, others fought exploitation and dreamed of a fairer world. In a daring collage, Pascaline Herveet blends narration, songs, poetry and militant speech. With unbridled humour, “La Maison Noire” builds bridges between eras and plunges us into the vibrant world of cabaret – a space of struggle and joy.

On the occasion of the “Prisonnières” exhibition, presented from 15 September to 13 December by the Médiathèque Françoise Sagan, Pascaline Herveet is invited to the media library for a sung reading of her piece in progress. The circus show is scheduled for May 2027. But before that, Pascaline Herveet, author and performer of the group Les Elles, presents a solo, raw and minimalist version. The sung reading of the text will therefore take a different form from the final show, notably because Pascaline Hervéet will embody each of the characters.
