GERSHWIN - RHAPSODY IN BLUE Throughout his life, Gershwin intertwined European classical heritage with American popular culture. His Rhapsody in Blue is the perfect example.
Close to a piano concerto without adhering to its formal framework, it unfolds in a single continuous movement. An excellent improviser, Gershwin invented some of the solos during the premiere, before transcribing them later.
The Concerto in F and the symphonic poem An American in Paris are also the fruits of rich cultural fusions. Alongside Éric Le Sage, the Ellipsos saxophone quartet brings brilliant and warm colours to this repertoire, highlighting its original connection to the world of jazz.
