Sir Richard Bishop is an American composer and improviser based in Phoenix, Arizona.
Along with his brother Alan Bishop and Charles Gocher, he was a founding member of the highly unpredictable Sun City Girls, a band that destabilised both the rock and experimental scenes for 25 years.
Equally essential, he is also responsible for the creation (again with his brother but also with Hisham Mayet) of the Sublime Frequencies label, which collects authentic musical gems primarily from North Africa and Southeast Asia.
He has toured extensively as a solo artist since 2005, notably with Will Oldham (Bonnie Prince Billy), Animal Collective, Devendra Banhart, Bill Callahan, and others.
His first album was released by Revenant, John Fahey's label, followed by releases on Locust Music and then Drag City. com/
