In 2025, his hit “back to friends” climbed to number one on the global and US Spotify charts, entered the Top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100 (#7), dominated alternative radio (#1 for 5 weeks), and is now the #1 pop track in the United States.

His meteoric rise is also reflected in his sold-out headline tours across North America, the UK, Europe, Australia, and New Zealand, which sold out in record time and featured surprise guests such as Sam Smith and Laufey.

sombr kicked off 2026 with a GRAMMY Award nomination for Best New Artist, following a year in which he made his mark at the MTV VMAs, where he performed and won Best Alternative, before performing on Fallon and Kimmel and making a notable appearance on SNL.

He also released his debut album, I Barely Know Her, co-produced by the legendary Tony Berg (Phoebe Bridgers, The Replacements). The album received nearly unanimous critical acclaim, while three of its singles simultaneously charted on the Billboard Hot 100.
