The Fairy Queen

Henry Purcell's The Fairy Queen in dialogue with A Midsummer Night's Dream. A forest, at night, for a night that stretches on, allowing tumultuous loves to escape the rigours of Athenian law. In this forest, magical characters weave the threads of a plot as unusual as it is fabulous, much to our delight. The Fairy Queen is born from the encounter between William Shakespeare's play, A Midsummer Night's Dream, and the musician Henry Purcell, who set it to music. In this show, theatre dialogues with music, bodies with instruments. Circus artists, dancers, actors, singers and musicians – classical and jazz alike – gather in this same enchanted forest to tell this bundle of romantic intrigues where everyone eventually forgets even the person they are in love with. This show is also a collective and territorial adventure: the sets and costumes are made by high school students – from Lycée d'Alembert in Aubervilliers, Lycée Claude Nicolas Ledoux in Les Pavillons-sous-Bois, and Lycée de l'Assomption in Bondy.
