The Trio Zeliha rekindles the ardour of romantic salons through two pinnacles of chamber music by Felix Mendelssohn and Clara Schumann.
The Trio Zeliha, an exceptional young French ensemble, envisions an evening of chamber music at the Schumanns' home, at the heart of German Romanticism. In 1839, Mendelssohn composed his Trio No. 1 in D minor, immediately hailed by Robert Schumann as “the master trio of our time”.
In 1846, Clara Schumann in turn penned her Trio in G minor. An admired virtuoso but long hampered by the conventions of her era, she doubted her legitimacy to compose, and yet this music exists, at once an intimate confession and a gesture of artistic emancipation.
Performed by the Trio Zeliha, whose violinist Manon Galy was a "Révélation" at the Victoires de la Musique 2022, this programme revives this romantic heritage with rare intensity. Duration: 1h without interval
