V. Beer-Demander

Grand recital of Vladimir Cosma's music We all know his music: Le Grand Blond avec une chaussure noire, La Boum, Rabbi Jacob, Les Fugitifs, Le Jouet… Melodies that have spanned generations, whistled in corridors, hummed without even knowing who composed them. That name is Vladimir Cosma. Tonight, at the Salle Cortot, where he once studied with Nadia Boulanger, these themes are reborn in another form: vast virtuoso piano fantasies, caprices for solo mandolin, and the world premiere of a Grand Sonata for mandolin and piano, specially commissioned for this concert. A new work, written by a composer who has lost none of his desire to explore. Performed by two former students of the École Normale, Nicolas Horvath on piano and Vincent Beer-Demander on mandolin, this recital reveals another facet of a musician whom cinema has made famous far beyond concert halls.
