About — The artist
Amorphis est un groupe de death metal mélodique, metal progressif et folk metal finlandais, originaire d'Uusimaa, Helsinki. Il est formé par Esa Holopainen, Tomi Koivusaari, Olli-Pekka Laine et Jan Rechberger en 1990. Exécutant à leur début un death/doom metal progressif avec quelques nuances de metal gothique, leur style musical a évolué vers un metal moderne et mélodique. Ils utilisent fréquemment le Kalevala, épopée de la mythologie finnoise, comme inspiration pour leurs textes. Le groupe a abandonné le chant guttural de leurs débuts en 1999 avant de le réintégrer partiellement en 2006 avec l'arrivée du chanteur Tomi Joutsen.
