Nile Rodgers

Nile Rodgers, born on 19 September 1952 in New York, is an American guitarist, songwriter, and music producer. His name is inseparable from that of his friend, bassist Bernard Edwards (1952-1996). They were the masters of disco and funk in the late 1970s with their band Chic, also delivering "turnkey" albums as composers, musicians, and producers for several artists, including Sister Sledge, Sheila, and Diana Ross.

Working alone as a producer and guitarist, Nile Rodgers has collaborated with a great many artists and achieved global success with Madonna (Like a Virgin), David Bowie (Let's Dance), INXS (Original Sin), Duran Duran (Notorious), and many others, or in a different genre, with the soundtracks for the video games Halo 2 and Halo 3. In 2013, he played guitar on three tracks from Daft Punk's album Random Access Memories, notably on the hit Get Lucky, for which he co-received three Grammy Awards.

Nile Rodgers continues to perform on stage worldwide, accompanied by musicians with whom he plays the music of Chic and some of the greatest hits he has composed or produced over more than forty years, accumulating 500 million albums and 75 million singles sold. He is one of the most sampled artists in modern music, by both hip-hop and electro artists. His distinctive way of playing riffs on his beloved Fender Stratocaster, nicknamed "Hitmaker," has set a precedent. In April 2017, Nile Rodgers was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with the "Award for Musical Excellence."
