About — The venue
The Jardin Nelson-Mandela, formerly known as Jardin des Halles, is a green space spanning approximately four hectares in the heart of the Les Halles district of the 1st arrondissement, in central Paris, France. It was created in the 1980s on the site of the former Les Halles de Paris market. The garden rests on the slab covering the Forum des Halles, a shopping centre that also houses several cultural activities. The garden features several lawns and numerous tree and shrub plantings. Notable elements include the Jardin des Enfants (Children's Garden), a tropical greenhouse buried underground, and Place René-Cassin, which forms a small amphitheatre. A redesign of the garden, carried out in parallel with that of the Forum, began in 2010 and was completed in 2018.
