About — The venue

La Java is a Parisian club in the Belleville district, located at 105, rue du Faubourg-du-Temple in the 10th arrondissement, in the basement of the "le Palais du commerce" gallery.

Established in 1923, this venue was originally a dance hall, among the most renowned in the capital. The venue notably hosted Django Reinhardt, Jean Gabin, Fréhel, and the early careers of Maurice Chevalier and Édith Piaf. After specialising in Latin music, La Java shifted its focus to electronic music. The venue attracts a rather diverse audience – varying according to the evenings on offer – but predominantly young.

Singer Mathieu Boogaerts performed there on Wednesday evenings between September 2009 and June 2010, and the album Mercredi ! À la Java ! Mathieu Boogaerts ! was recorded there.
