At a time when Gilberto Gil, a legend of Brazilian music, is bringing his career to a close, the very strong bond he has forged with his descendants acts as an unexpected extension of his talent. Founded in 2018, the group of Francisco, João, and José Gil, son and grandson of Gilberto, is now one of Brazil's most creative formations. Masterfully blending pop, samba, reggae, and rhythms from Bahia to create a very personal sonic cocktail, Gilsons are writing a new chapter in MPB, an acronym that instantly evokes the best of musical Brazil, itself stemming from the most fertile cultural movement this country has known. Accumulating successes with several singles ("Várias Queixas", "Devagarinho"), Gilsons released their first album "Pra Gente Acordar", immediately nominated for a Latin Grammy in the "Best Contemporary Pop Album in Portuguese Language" category. After hosting Gilberto Gil in 2018, La Seine Musicale is delighted to open the doors of its Auditorium to the young generation of Brazilian Popular Music.
