Michelle's seventh album, recorded in her bedroom, titled *It Was the Moment*, will not disappoint those who expect a new soundtrack to accompany their melancholy and nostalgia.

It may even be her most vulnerable and expressive work to date, which is not surprising as it was written and produced during a period of grief and mental instability.

These songs reveal a new level of emotional surrender, confirming her place in the lineage of dramatic chansonniers.

Themes include a fatalistic submission to passion, the ephemeral nature of encounters, the loss of her mother and home, the end of days, and the loss of reason in its best and worst manifestations.

Michelle deploys her full sonic palette here, from dark Lynchian realism to refined humour, as well as the role of epic melodrama queen.

With regularly sold-out concerts in cities like Istanbul, Berlin, Warsaw and Athens, Michelle has carved out a niche that encompasses the Eastern European diaspora, the Berlin queer scene and those who appreciate the melodramatic ballads of Charles Aznavour, Zeki Müren and Nikolai Slichenko.

While her concerts feature more live aspects and a band of musicians, she continues to self-produce and release her own albums, thus retaining an intimacy and singularity of expression – from her bedroom to yours.

A genre based in part on elements of melody and style, but above all on a singular, both fatalistic and festive, approach to songwriting.
