Overview

Sidi Bemol, an emblematic figure of the Algerian scene, returns to Paris to present his latest project, « Iwal  ». A unique opportunity to discover his new creations and be carried away by his singular musical universe at Cabaret Sauvage.

Hocine Boukella, aka Sidi Bemol, is an Algerian artist whose work has transcended musical and cultural boundaries since the late 1980s. Known for his ability to fuse genres, he has created a recognisable style blending rock, blues, chaâbi, and traditional Berber music. Originally from Tizi Ouzou in Kabylia, he began his career in France, where he developed this distinctive sound identity. His lyrics, often imbued with humour and poetry, address social and philosophical themes, reflecting a keen observation of the world around him. Albums such as « Cheikh Sidi Bémol  » and « El Bandi  » have left their mark with their originality and richness.

The « Iwal  » project represents a new stage in Sidi Bemol's journey, exploring contemporary sounds while remaining true to his roots. His music is an invitation to travel, a bridge between East and West, where traditional instruments dialogue with modern arrangements. The catchy melodies and varied rhythms are carried by a warm and expressive voice, capable of conveying a wide range of emotions. This alchemy makes Sidi Bemol a unique artist, whose influence extends far beyond world music circles.

On stage, Sidi Bemol is renowned for his communicative energy and generosity. His concerts are moments of sharing where the audience is invited to participate, sing, and dance. The live experience is always an immersion into his vibrant universe, where improvisation and interaction are key elements. His stage presence, both charismatic and relaxed, creates a friendly and festive atmosphere. This visit to Paris, and particularly to Cabaret Sauvage, a venue known for its warm ambiance and proximity to artists, promises to be a highlight for lovers of mixed-genre music and for those wishing to discover an authentic and committed artist.
