Welcomed last season with Les Ailes du désir, Othman Louati returns with the ensemble Miroirs Étendus for an adaptation of Stanislas Lem's novel Solaris. With Jacques Perconte, a leading figure in video art in Europe, he composes an immersive opera where music, image, and science fiction take us to the frontiers of reality. Adapted from Stanislas Lem's masterpiece, Solaris explores the mysteries of a planet surrounded by two suns and covered by an ocean that seems endowed with a form of intelligence defying all human comprehension. With this major work of science fiction literature, Othman Louati and Jacques Perconte question our way of inhabiting the world, our relationship to knowledge, to technology, as well as to love and spirituality. Like an irradiating wave of celestial light, this video-opera sets in motion human voices, instrumental forces, analog synthesizers, filmed natural landscapes, texts on stage, closed-circuit video, mathematics in motion, cinematics, and silences to construct the different levels of reality of the narrative.
