The greatest genius of this blessed period was undoubtedly Pierluigi Da Palestrina, whose Olympian polyphony masterfully underscored the liturgical texts set to music, consolidating an illustrious tradition that Gregorio Allegri crowned with an incomparable masterpiece, his mythical Miserere, with its stratospheric high lines. Peter Phillips and his Tallis Scholars recreate a mass service using great works by Palestrina, including motets by masters all linked to the Sistine Chapel. It goes without saying that this ensemble will display the incredible vocal perfection for which it is renowned.
