After exploring a warrior dance known as "Alaoui" with the creation GOUÂL in 2021, this time Filipe Lourenço draws inspiration from research into another traditional dance called "Ahidous", located in Central Morocco (Middle Atlas).

This is one of the variants of the collective dance of Berber origin found throughout Morocco and beyond in various forms and names. Ahidous is the most popular means of collective bodily and poetic expression for the people of the Middle Atlas to celebrate.

The challenge is to deconstruct the divide between the two genders, rather than to overturn them, as if to better lift the forbidden gaze that strikes the feminine or that excludes them from the transmission of these traditions.

Always marked by the search for full and complete bodily engagement, Filipe Lourenço's choreographic writing therefore does not shy away from the critical dimension of his subject, supported by a strong desire to modernise ancestral practices.

With this revisited Ahidous, Filipe Lourenço once again proposes to choreograph expenditure by opening up the danced imaginaries of the Maghreb to a collective landscape, embracing a resolutely inclusive gesture. PMR reservations by phone at 01 69 29 34 91.
