Building on its prestigious heritage, the London City Ballet aspires to reassert its place in the choreographic landscape. Formerly patronised by Lady Diana, Princess of Wales, and resident company of Sadler’s Wells Theatre, the London City Ballet established itself in the past as a British benchmark in the world of dance.

Renowned international choreographer, John Neumeier, presents a new version of his 2020 creation, Ghost Light. Performed for the very first time outside the Hamburg Ballet, Ghost Light offers us a glimpse into the spirits of those artists who once graced our stages. When the curtain falls and the theatre darkens, a light illuminates the memory of these performers whose steps continue to inspire us.

In this centenary year of American choreographer Glen Tetley, the London City Ballet celebrates and pays tribute to his work by reviving his gothic reinterpretation of L’Oiseau de feu. Originally created for the Royal Danish Ballet, this audacious version tells the emancipation of a young woman who breaks free from the grip of an authoritarian family: a pioneer who leaves the nest, embraces her difference, and leads her peers towards freedom. For this revival, Olivier Award-winning set designer and creator of the original décors, John Macfarlane, revisits his creations for the London City Ballet.
