Franco-Colombian musician Ëda Diaz invites you to discover (ËDA)MAME, a project in full germination. The goal: to create a new album while establishing a space for experimentation and encounter, through music, with the bean as a guiding thread.
Magdalena – River of Dreams (A Story of Colombia), a comprehensive cross-cutting narrative by Canadian ethnobotanist Wade Davis, is the primary source for (ËDA)MAME.
This atypical project is also nourished by the dialogue between Ëda Diaz and Xandra Uribe, guardian of a "frijolatorio" (a laboratory dedicated to beans), whose harvests are used to create jewellery.
Carving a unique path between electronic music, modern pop, and Afro-Colombian sounds, the musician here uses the bean ("frijol") as a poetic prism to conceive the compositions for her new album, structured around voice and double bass – her two favourite instruments.
She also uses it as a conceptual lens to explore interconnected subjects: diaspora, (agri)culture, transmission, adaptation…
