Overview
After enchanting us with her unique universe last season (Une maison de poupée, Dracula), the virtuoso puppeteer Yngvild Aspeli returns to the Théâtre Silvia Monfort with her spectacular adaptation of Herman Melville's novel, Moby Dick.
From the very first images, the stage transforms into a shifting space where waves, creatures, and visions emerge. Seven performers bring to life some fifty figures – life-size, Lilliputian, or gargantuan – creating a dense scenic material, traversed by shadows and tensions.
At the heart of the narrative, Ahab's quest, driven by his consuming obsession with the whale Moby Dick, leads the crew on a journey of no return.
Between monumental puppets, visible or invisible manipulations, and video projections, everything conspires to blur the lines between reality and illusion. The gaze wanders, fascinated, in this perpetually metamorphosing theatre of extreme beauty. « Du grand art.
» The New York Times « Visuellement splendide. » Le Canard enchaîné « Un grand spectacle dans un univers saisissant.
