« Corps extrêmes » de Rachid Ouramdane / Compagnie de Chaillot

On stage, a climbing wall overlooks a dozen acrobats sent into the air, through which a highliner moves on a wire. These moving, almost flying bodies offer both a documentary testimony and a poetic journey. In Corps extrêmes, a show seen by 75,000 spectators worldwide, vertigo is never far away, but the take-off is guaranteed.

When Rachid Ouramdane created Corps extrêmes in 2021, the choreographer wished to "focus on the fascination exerted by the notions of flight, weightlessness, suspension, gliding...". Alongside him, he brought together an atypical community, enamoured with freedom, made up of two emblematic practitioners of extreme sports – a highliner and a climber – and eight acrobats. Together, they create a show full of relief and lightness, evolving between sky and earth, with an imposing climbing wall at the back of the stage serving as the main support point. Crossed at height by a long wire, the stage sometimes transforms into a vast screen onto which literally dizzying images of highliner Nathan Paulin and climber Nina Caprez in action are projected, set against magnificent natural landscapes. The off-stage voices of these two exceptional athletes, as well as that of aerialist Airelle Caen, also weave in, each delivering a personal testimony about their practice. This spectacular human and artistic adventure, recounting extraordinary experiences, has since toured the world, meeting an ever more enthusiastic audience.
