Through the bubbling energy of dance, the commitment of two great artists facing history.
At 82 years old, Germaine Acogny is a phenomenon. Maurice Béjart's former "spiritual daughter" traverses the life and struggles of the famous Joséphine Baker: her revolt against racism, her involvement in the Resistance… A meeting of such obviousness that it triumphs everywhere.
Gregory Maqoma responds with a creation for twelve dancers from different traditions, uniting their practices in a joyful fraternity that pays homage to Germaine Acogny's teaching and her famous École des sables.
An immemorial echo of Africa, of its youth and modernity, a frenetic telluric whirlwind, Bantu is a celebration of the strength and beauty of life. Gregory Maqoma also recalls the social realities of the continent.
