Après moi

“Après moi, le déluge” resonates like a motto that each generation seems to embody: the persistent belief that the world ends with them. Dance then becomes a means to transgress this mournful destiny, to bring joy in the face of the cynicism of a society sick under the weight of crises. But beware of the monsters that haunt our humanities and our lives.

With Après moi, le déluge, this is the third creation for the prestigious Ballet national de Marseille, which they have directed since 2019. This immense fresco brings together about fifteen performers caught in a choreographic and musical whirlwind.

"To move heaven and earth," you know the expression? And "After us the deluge"? That too? That's what happens here. The dancers dig into the ground, overturn it; what was the floor becomes the ceiling. A new space appears, traversed by images of apocalypse.

In one question, the piece alerts us: what to do when our world falters. Après moi, le déluge is part of (LA)HORDE's creative landscape, which is passionate about communities and all forms of uprising, for example, the raves in Room with a View and the avatars in Age of Content.

(LA)HORDE here targets the figure of the whistleblower, the hacker, or the contemporary "monster. " With (LA)HORDE, it's impossible to remain quietly seated in your seat. Music holds a place as important as movement.

Carried by Pierre Aviat's original music, the piece is a declaration of love to all dances where unity creates strength. Faced with the gloom of the era, Après moi, le déluge lifts us up, in a great surge of common energy, together, all of us together.
