La Parabole du Seum

Facing the torments of our era, Rébecca Chaillon imagines an astrological fable that intertwines science fiction, profane rituals, and body politics. An attempt at survival that brings together an extraordinary community of artists on stage to invent, through fiction and imagination, new strategies of resistance.

An associate artist at TPM, where she has already presented several of her plays, author, performer, and director Rébecca Chaillon returns with her performative theatre where bodies that defy diktats become narratives and forces of transformation.

In La Parabole du Seum, the sky is both the place from which catastrophes fall – hurricanes, floods, so-called “natural” disasters – which always reveal the same fault lines, and the new territories of Western imperialism.

But if the sky is saturated and fragmented, what space remains to project our beliefs and hopes? Neither a programme nor a consolation, the play composes a funny and fierce parable to let the soul breathe, in which imagination and humour become acts of resistance.
